A former Trump aide who worked on the campaign during the 2016 presidential election is accusing his former boss of “stealing” from them.
The New York Times reports that the former Trump campaign aide told the Times on Friday that the campaign did not spend much time and effort on the Trump administration during the campaign.
“We never saw the president as the president, we never had the White House,” the former aide told The Times.
“So if you had a problem, if you were going to get a president’s attention, you would get a Trump administration.”
“They didn’t do much in the way of outreach,” the aide added.
He said the Trump team did not engage in the kinds of grassroots organizing that the Sanders team did during the election.
While Trump has been criticized for a lack of transparency and accountability during his time in office, he has repeatedly defended his actions as “presidential.”
